Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida Condemns Nazi Marches at Disney Springs and Altamonte Springs and Governor DeSantis’ Lack of Response
Orlando Florida, September 2023 – The Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida stands united in unequivocal condemnation of the Nazi marches that recently occurred at Disney Springs and Altamonte Springs in Orlando, Florida. We are equally concerned and dismayed by the lack of a swift and decisive condemnation from Governor Ron DeSantis, whose duty it is to protect the safety and well-being of all Floridians.
The presence of hate groups like the Nazis marching on Disney, our state’s iconic and family-friendly destination, is an affront to the values of tolerance, inclusivity, and diversity that Florida and the United States hold dear. We must remember that these hateful ideologies have no place in our society, and they must be met with unwavering resistance from our elected leaders.
The Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida calls on Governor DeSantis to acknowledge the gravity of this situation and take immediate action to address it. In times like these, leadership must rise above partisanship to protect the safety and unity of our state. Silence in the face of such hatred is not an option, and we urge the Governor to use his authority to condemn this act of hate and to assure all Floridians that their safety is a top priority.
Our state’s strength lies in its diversity, and we must defend the values that make Florida a welcoming and inclusive place for people from all walks of life. We stand in solidarity with the community affected by this reprehensible act and call on all Floridians to reject hate in all its forms.
